COLLABORATIONS

CMS is currently collaborating with a number of institutions for research and staff capacity building.

These include:

  1. Partners in the Netherlands (Institute of Social Studies, Radboud University,  Nijmegen and MDF training and Consultancy) under NUFFIC funding to strengthen the capacity of the CMS to contribute to and influence the development, formulation and analysis of migration policies in Ghana
  2. INED (Paris) on a project entitled “Migration between Africa and Europe” (MAFE)
  3. African Diaspora Policy Centre to undertake a project entitled “Building Institutional Cooperation between Diaspora and Homeland Governments in Africa” funded by the MacArthur Foundation
  4. University of Sussex, UK to undertake project on North-South Migration of Children in Ghana.
  5. International Migration Institute (IMI), Oxford University on “African Perspectives on Human Mobility” with support from the MacArthur Foundation
  6. University of Amsterdam on a project on Transnational “Child-Rearing Arrangements in Ghana”

The centre is currently represented on several national boards in the area of migration studies. These include:

  1. The Steering Committee of the National Migration Unit at the Ministry of Interior.
  2. Steering Committee of IOM AENEAS labour migration.
  3. The Centre also maintains strong links with the following:
    1. Ministries, Departments and Agencies, including Ghana Immigration Service, National Population Council, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare.
    2. International & Development Partners, such as IOM, UNDP, EU, British Council, World Bank etc.
