ADMISSIONS GRADUATE PROGRAMMES IN MIGRATION STUDIES Projects and Research Activities Background The potential of migration for stimulating development and for poverty reduction is increasingly being recognized and acknowledged, yet data and knowledge on its scale, characteristics and dynamics remain limited. Moreover, little systematic policy attention has been given to the various aspects of the migration-development nexus. This has led to the lack of a well-designed and nationally responsive programme to drive the debate on migration in Ghana as well as provide relevant services, including data and training. Objectives The graduate programmes in migration studies aim to equip students to develop critical perspectives and knowledge of migration issues and dynamics in a range of contexts in the contemporary world. The programme will introduce students to a wide range of theoretical and conceptual frameworks and analytical tools for undertaking migration research and policy design. The programme adopts an inter-disciplinary approach to examine key issues of migration as a multi-dimensional process. Admission Requirements M.A. Programme Candidates must have a good first degree in the Social or Natural Sciences. M.Phil Programme Candidates must possess an M.A. in Migration Studies or a related discipline Ph.D Programme Candidates must have an M.Phil Degree in migration studies or any other related discipline Relevant working experience will be an advantage for admission into all the three programmes.
